The learning playing fields are not even. Not even close.
So when we talk about what fantastic opportunities internet/broadband technologies, especially mobile technologies, bring to education, we have to ask us the question on who actually benefits. Is it the mobile device manufacturers; is it the millions of application developers who wants to be the next rich kid who sold out to Facebook; is it the outdated or unrelated material supplied by publishers?
We all need to make a living, we all need to pay the bills. Actually interesting to see that those institutions who has rich kids and even richer parents opts for ‘freebies’. Nothing is free – freeware is as free as a puppy is free……… It must still be fed – mostly expensive IT maintenance and support.
Therefore the discussions in the presentation will deal with mobile technologies and the challenges we face in adoption of mobile teaching and learning.
